The Lawns Nursing and Residential Care Home, located in the peaceful village of Brixton, Plymouth, offers Nursing & Residential Care, Rehabilitation & Respite Care, Dementia Care, and End of Life & Palliative Care for Plymouth & Devon.
Our care home is fully accredited by the CQC to provide care for adults aged 65 and above, as well as adults with dementia and physical disabilities. Additionally, we are involved in the St Luke’s Six Steps + Programme, with members of our team having completed the End of Life (EOL) Care programme to become EOL Champions.
Working with the local Community Rehabilitation and Nursing teams, we offer the highest standards of care for both long-term and short-term residents. Our kind and compassionate team specialises in providing full-term nursing care, as well as care for those living with long-term conditions, such as Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, Dementia, Diabetes, COPD, and Motor Neurone Disease.
At The Lawns, people from all walks of life are welcome, including visitors at any time, and we treat everyone like family. Our goal is to always create a home-from-home atmosphere. With a focus on quality, person-centred care, we provide individual care plans to suit the needs of all our residents, allowing them to have complete control over every aspect of their daily life. Is There a Minimum Length of Stay?

No, there is no minimum length of stay at our Nursing & Residential Care Home. We cater for any length of stay, including Convalescence and Respite Care.

Can I Keep My Own Doctor?

This depends entirely on your Doctor, who may be prepared to visit you. Rest assured, we have an excellent relationship with the local surgery, so a Doctor is always at hand.

Can I Smoke in My Room?

No, to comply with the law, no smoking is allowed anywhere indoors. However, we do have a smoking area at the rear of the building, which you are welcome to use.

Is There a Local Church?

St Mary’s Church is just a couple of hundred yards down the road, but we also have a visiting Vicar and Priest who will give Communion.

What Is Your Policy with Pets?

Depending on individual circumstances, we may agree for you to keep your pet, but this decision is entirely at our discretion. We do arrange pet therapy from Animals2U, which includes a diverse range of animals, such as rabbits, cats, dogs, tortoises, and lizards.

Can a Relative Stay Over?

We have a few excellent Bed and Breakfasts nearby offering very reasonable rates. For relatives during their loved one’s last days of life, we can provide a camp bed.

What Organised Activities or Trips Are There?

We don’t currently offer organised day trips. However, we offer a wide range of activities within the home. We have a group activity every week, which includes musical entertainment, exercise classes, pet therapy, quizzes and bingo. Additionally, we have an activities coordinator who carries out one-to-one activities with residents. This includes pamper sessions, games, reminiscing and anything that the residents would like to do.

Is My Designated Next of Kin Kept Informed?

Yes, we take special note of relatives’ requests and will react in any way required on an individual basis.
